Our home

Our home is a beautiful modern house just outside of Williamsburg. Located on cul-de-sac, it backs onto private wooded area. Note: the location on the map has us in Williamsburg proper. We are located about 10 minutes away from downtown, in a development in James City County. Our home is on three levels. Read moreOur home is a beautiful modern house just outside of Williamsburg. Located on cul-de-sac, it backs onto private wooded area. Note: the location on the map has us in Williamsburg proper. We are located about 10 minutes away from downtown, in a development in James City County. Our home is on three levels. The first floor (ground-level entrance from the front) has an entrance hallway (and stairs to the second floor); on the left is a large formal dining room and on the right is the master BR (will full bath and queen bed). In the back of the house to the left (in back of the dining room) is a fully equipped eat-in kitchen kitchen, with a large table in an alcove of windows; on the right (in back of the master BR) is a large living area with cathedral ceiling and skylights; there is a reading room off the back of the living room, also with lots of windows and skylights. One can go out onto the multli-level deck from the kitchen or living room. There is also a half-bath on this floor. The basement is a walk-out; there is a workroom (where I do sewing and picture-framing), a large office with a double sofa-bed, and a full bath. The office/BR has a sliding glass door exit to the deck. There is also a one-car garage on this level. The second floor of the house has a large BR with queen bed, a landing that overlooks the LR and front hall, a large office, and another full bath.

We also have a wonderful garden house off the back deck (sort of like a screened-in porch but not attached to the house). It will be a perfect place to kick back and relax after a day of being an active tourist.

We love our home! The rooms are large and light-filled, the furniture is comfortable, and it is surrounded by a beautiful garden. There is a multi-level deck, with a little pond complete with goldfish. The kitchen is very well furnished.

The house is on a cul-de-sac and we have friendly neighbors. It is very private, but easy to get out to interesting places--Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, Water Country, Jamestown, Yorktown, the James River Plantations. Lots of history in this part of the world!

Quiet and friendly suburban neighborhood, 10 minutes (by auto) from Colonial Williamsburg. Many golf courses, lots of historic sites, good cycling, three large rivers (James, York, Chickahominy), many parks with canoe and kayak rental, nearby beaches.

Internal stairs, External stairs / steps, Step in bath/shower, Driveway is fairly steep, but from the cul-de-sac to the front porch is not very far. And there are no stairs to the front door entrance.

Our pets

CatsCats (1)
TomCat is a very chill and friendly cat. He is very outgoing and loves to be petted. He is an indoors/outdoors cat but we prefer that he stay indoors overnight (which requires blocking his cat door around twilight and unblocking it in the morning). He eats only dry catfood, twice per day, and needs his water bowl filled. Cleaning his litter box is also needed.

Average - In July there is very little lawn care needed. We do have extensive flower gardens, and keeping an eye on the flowers would be a bonus (deadheading, making sure that they have enough water). We have an automatic sprinkler system. Potted plants on the back deck and front porch would need watering. We might ask a housesitter to spray Liquid fence once during the stay to keep the deer away.
