favoriteWhy we love house sitting

House sitting because it’s the perfect trifecta: furry companionship, a change of scenery, and a peek into how other folks live. Animals bring me joy, and getting to know new neighborhoods and communities gives me that cozy, “what-if-I-lived-here” thrill. It’s travel with a purpose.

Those who know me best describe me as kind, creative, brainy, open-minded, and a walking heart emoji. I’m just as at home relishing a five-course meal as I am curled up in cozy-home mode with a good book, a blanket, and in the company of furry or feathered friends.

I was born and raised in Stockton, California—a tough little town that taught me big lessons early. I’m the second of four siblings, and with the loss of my older brother two years ago and both of our parents gone, I now find myself as the family’s unofficial CEO. It’s a role I hold with a mix of responsibility and heart.

Academics shaped much of my early path. I landed at Pitzer College, a liberal arts oasis that seemed tailor-made for a curious young anthropologist. Later, I pursued a Ph.D. at Stanford—but somewhere along the way, I realized something essential was missing. So I pivoted. I explored higher ed administration, civil rights work, and philanthropy—each role meaningful, but none quite “it.”

Entrepreneurship finally hit the sweet spot. It gave me the freedom to blend creativity, independence, and impact in ways no other job ever had. Once I found it, there was no turning back.

I’m not your typical girl—I’ll take a thunderstorm over red roses and quiet acts of service over shiny rocks (diamonds are so predictable). After thriving for decades in Seattle’s glorious gray, life and work drew me toward Virginia. I am now retired and always up for exploration.

I’m fit, healthy, and energetic—with room in my heart for creatures great and small.

My dedication to animals is grounded in a genuine love and respect for their well-being. Now that I am retired, I can fully devote myself to offering pet-sitting services, bringing the same thoughtful care and attention to every pet I look after. Whether providing companionship, ensuring their daily routines are maintained, or keeping pets engaged, I treat every animal like family, ensuring peace of mind for their owners while they’re away.
