Our home

Would you like to come and house sit for us? We live on the Olympic Peninsula in a waterfront home overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca, surrounded by woodland but only 12 minutes from gorgeous Port Townsend. We have a dedicated office & reliable internet for those who work from home. We're blessed with 2 large elderly German Shepherd dogs - Roxy and Kona. We live on the Olympic Peninsula in a waterfront home overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca, surrounded by woodland but only 12 minutes from gorgeous Port Townsend. We have a dedicated office & reliable internet for those who work from home. We're blessed with 2 large elderly German Shepherd dogs - Roxy and Kona. They are very well behaved and affectionate but will bark when they hear people arriving. Sadly, despite the very best Vet care & Opthamologist Specialist our poor rescue Roxy has become blind. Fortunately, she knows the layout of the house, yard, and our private trail and manages w supervision and kind words of encouragement & reorientation. Kona, also aids in helping sweet Roxy. The girls love their daily walks up our private lane or in our own woodland, playing ball or hanging out with you. We have 4 hand reared hens, 2 of them are very social and they lay daily delicious eggs, The area is surrounded by mountains and beaches and full of fun activities. After you’ve finished your daily hike or beach combing go visit our charming, artistic Victorian seaport community - where plenty of live music can be found. End your day relaxing in our spa whilst enjoying the the ships passing by and captivating views of British Columbia in the distance.

Of course we’re biased but Port Townsend is stunning! Where else can you hike in the mountains in the morning and end your day beach combing, paddle boarding, or sailing. During the summer you can find live music nearly nightly and will have a hard time choosing, fine dining and amazing artists!

Dogs: daily feedings, fresh water, meds. Daily walks & ‘poop patrol’ so Roxy doesn’t accidentally step in it. Maybe some brushing for ongoing ‘hair everywhere battle’. Lots of TLC❣️

Chickens: feeding, water & electric hen house door, so all sorted. External doors opened daily & closed nightly. 2 minutes daily to clean/scoop hen house waste out (we use the sand method). Collect daily eggs and enjoy! They’re yummy.😋

medicationMedication/treatment required

Kona 1 x day thyroid tablet. Roxy eye drops 2 x daily.

Our garden

Minimal - We have in ground irrigation most places so no massive watering requirements unless heat wave. However, potted plants both front porch & back deck will need watering every 3-4 days during summer.

Kathy is a retired Social Worker & Steve is a local family physician (GP) serving our community. We love sailing, hiking, traveling and spending quality time w those we love. Plus a nice glass of wine

This was my second time house and pet sitting for Kathleen. Her dogs Kona and Roxy are absolutely adorable and loving. Just big old puppies. It is very easy to walk them in the woods on their property and they do want their walks. Bring rain clothes if you're going in the rainy season as they don't mind the rain at all. The hens are also adorable, two of which are amenable to petting and two who want you to keep your distance. Their eggs are delicious. Kathleen and Steve provide a ... This was another beautiful house and pet sit with 2 precious dogs and 4 adorable hens. Kathleen and Steve have done an incredible job training and providing love and support for their rescue dogs. They are very large dogs and could easily be intimidating, but once we pack walked they turned into big softies. You couldn't ask for a better view and the garden is lovely. Best of all, they have their own private woods to walk Kona and Roxy. House and amenities are perfect for me. I will be ...
