SITTER
Open to all cat lovers - especially experienced with traumatized cats. You'll need your own transportation. This is for one person only and no guests* (see note for exception). Great if you want to go out exploring - the cats would appreciate time alone.

CAT CARE
Two young rescue cats need twice daily attention. One is traumatized and skittish, and the other is sociable. They are INDOOR ONLY cats, and careful attention needs to be paid to the doors. You will need to learn how to feed the cat who hides. It's not hard once learned.

Duties: Feeding morning and night, including handling raw meat and adding a medication; Litterbox; Play. There is a backup plan if you need to be out late and miss a feeding occasionally.

LOCATION and HOUSE
Lompoc is a small, remote town. There are top tier destinations within 30-60 minutes, especially if you like vineyards, beaches, mountains, or Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. There is a great walking beach 10 minutes away.
The house is a large, clean, 3bd/2ba home and you'll have the master suite. It's in a gated neighborhood. The house itself is mostly surrounded by a forest park and is very quiet most of the time. I provide a guest guide with recommendations. I also provide detailed printed instructions and contact numbers.
The house is clean and cats are up to date on flea meds.

OTHER TASKS
Plant care is very minimal. Mow the lawn one day you are here (non-motorized push mower).
You'll take out the trash bins for trash day and bring them back in.

ARRIVAL DETAILS
You will stay in your master suite "hotel style" before I depart - with its own entrance, fridge, microwave, WITHOUT house access.

*For the right person, an occasional guest can be discussed, but subject to specific conditions - namely, no main house access or interaction with my animals. Please contact me if this would apply to you.

Quiet and modest small town, within 30-60 minutes to beaches, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, wineries, and more.
Gas and food are cheaper here. No traffic.
Our gated neighborhood is really lovely and you can walk around it and through its parks - it's all private property.

Our pets

CatsCats (2)
Nailah: 6 yr old black female kitty with anxiety. She will hide, but come out eventually. With time you may become friends, and then she's cuddly. She is playful and funny as well.
Percy Jones: 4 yr old brown tabby, very interactive and funny. Is a pest and will always try to steal food, etc.

They need about 1 hour care per day, 10 minutes in the morning, 30ish minutes in the evening, litter, play, etc. They can be left alone most of the day.
Their food is kibble, and meat that you will cook in the microwave. Should be comfortable preparing raw meat.

medicationMedication/treatment required

Nailah gets an anxiety medication added to her food. I can share more about behavior quirks

Minimal - A few potted plants indoors (approx 8), 5 potted plants outside. 1-2 times a week water
4 trees outside will get watered once in the middle of your stay.
Would be happy to have the small front lawn mowed one time. Non-motorized mower

I grew up near San Diego, have lived overseas a lot, and have been in the Santa Barbara area for about 10 years but new to Lompoc. I've been involved in farmers markets and I'm a hospice volunteer.

Enjoyed this house/Pet sit for Amy and the communication with her from the very beginning was excellent. All through the sit we stayed in communication, so I never felt like I didn't have support for the house or the kitties. As for the kitties, they were great. Nailah was very timid and shy for the first couple of days, so she went into hiding a lot. After a couple of days, she started warming up a little and started warming up to me. Amy has a lovely home with 2 beautiful cats: Percy & Nailah. Percy is quite friendly and adorable; Nailah, although rather skittish, warmed up to me (a little) after a few days. Care for them was minimal and they seemed comfortable despite having a stranger in their house. My room was quite spacious. There were all the amenities of a comfy home, minus a TV, and the neighborhood was quiet. The house backs up to a small park and there is a lot of wonderful bird activity. During my stay, I ... There were all the amenities of a comfy home, minus a TV, and the neighborhood was quiet. The house backs up to a small park and there is a lot of wonderful bird activity. During my stay, I witnessed a SpaceX launch complete with sonic boom. Vandenburg Air Force Base is 10 miles away. Lompoc itself is a very small town surrounded by hills and farmland with the basic variety of stores and restaurants. It's a different side of California from the host of coastal cities around it.
