Our home

We live in the DC Metro area and need a mature single or couple to house-sit and be a human companion for our 2 cats - Shadow (11 years) & Chloe (8 years).

Our cats are indoor/outdoor so the primary responsibilities are interacting/petting/brushing both cats, feeding both cats, cleaning the litter box daily, and letting both cats outside and back inside.

Our cats are indoor/outdoor so the primary responsibilities are interacting/petting/brushing both cats, feeding both cats, cleaning the litter box daily, and letting both cats outside and back inside.

We also ask for regular home maintenance (ex. trash removal, vacuuming), mowing our postage-stamp size yard as needed, keeping the house tidy, and leaving the house as clean when you leave as it was when you arrived.

You will stay in our guest room with a queen bed and use a full bathroom (photos included). We live in a quiet neighborhood in the suburbs of Northern Virginia outside the DC metro area. Our home is a townhouse with the living room, dining room, kitchen, and 1/2 bath on the main (middle) level; 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms upstairs; and a family room, guest room and full bath downstairs.

There is much to do and see in this area including access Washington DC by the Ashburn Metro (10 minutes drive from our home), several easy-to-reach regional, state, and national parks, and hiking and biking trails.

There are grocery stores and many international restaurants in the area.

Your own transportation is required.

Wireless internet is available. We have Verizon FiOS and is very stable. Multiple people use it at the same time

The exact timeframe is flexible as we are doing a driving trip.

Our adult daughter lives in Washington, DC and would be available in the event of an emergency.

I had a wonderful stay with the sweetest cats, Chloe and Shadow—I fell in love with them instantly! Cheryl and Lael are fantastic hosts—so warm, accommodating, and easy to connect with. Their home is spacious, well-equipped, and the guest bedroom is very comfortable. The location is fantastic, with beautiful nature views and great shopping options like Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Sprouts, Costco, Walmart and Total Wine all within 15 minutes.
